Mitch has been practicing law in Alabama and throughout the United States for over 25 years. Prior to starting his own firm, Mitch was a senior shareholder in the Employment Law Section of Maynard Cooper & Gale, one of the largest law firms in Alabama.
Mitch’s knowledge, experience and trial skills have been recognized by his election into Best Lawyers in America for the last 10 years (2005 – 2015) (Employment Litigation & Labor & Employment Law). He has also been selected by his peers for inclusion in Super Lawyers (Employment & Labor) for the last 7 years. He was honored to be given the highest attorney ranking by Martindale Hubbell, the AV Preeminent Rating.
Mitch received his undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama in 1986 and his law degree from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1989. While in law school, Mitch was selected for the Alabama Law Review, where he was later elected to be the Student Works Editor on the Managing Board. He was also selected to the Moot Court Board and chosen to compete on the International Moot Court Team.
After law school, Mitch served as a law clerk to Senior United States District Judge Seybourn H. Lynne of the Northern District of Alabama from 1989 – 1990.
Mitch is licensed to practice in multiple jurisdictions, both in the State of Alabama and numerous other states. He is a member of the Birmingham Bar Association, the Alabama State Bar Association (Labor & Employment), and the American Bar Association. He is admitted and has appeared in all United States District Courts in Alabama, including the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts. He has also argued before the Eleventh and Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, as well as the Alabama Supreme Court and the United States Supreme Court.
